Watsan Project Officer – Hardware           (1 position)

(National Staff Position)

 

The WatSanProject Officer – Hardware will be focusing on the hardware WatSan activities of the program in close cooperation with its colleagues who will focus on the software side of the WatSan / health activities like hygiene promotion. The team as a whole will provide assistance in the identification, planning, organization, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of PMI/IFRC West Sumatra EQ Recovery Programme's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion activities. The project activities will vary over time and require a multi-skilled and multi-functional approach in the programme implementation.

 

 

Duties applicable to all staff:

 

 

1.     Actively work towards the achievement of the Secretariat's goals.

2.     Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross/Red Crescent principles.

3.     Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

4.     Respect and observe the Code of Conduct and staff regulations.

 

 

Specific duties, responsibilities and accountabilities:

1. Responsible for the identification and delivery of the water, sanitation and hygiene promotion in the areas.
2. Responsible for the field assessment of water, sanitation, and hygiene conditions in the communities.
3. Responsible for the community mobilization, performance and training of community group and cooperation between community group with local authorities in the rehabilitation activities (PMI, Puskesmas etc.).
4. Working as a team with the Sr. Project Officers and where applicable with the construction supervisor to plan, organize, and oversee construction activities in the field.
5. Write and submit progress reports to the WatSan Project Manager

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering (civil, environmental, architecture or other relevant subjects)
• Training and education in water and sanitation would be an advantage
• Engineering practice, especially in participatory water, sanitation and hygiene promotion projects.
• Managing teams and activities and also create  reports
• Previous work with international organizations would be an asset
• Self supporting in computer literacy (Microsoft Office, internet browsing)
• Fluent in spoken and written English, Bahasa Indonesia
• Familiar with any participatory methodologies, knowledge and skills in PHAST/CHAST training and implementation is an added advantage.
• Experience in community mobilization and education
• Commitment to the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement principles; integrity & personality conduct; sensitivity to diversity; flexibility and adaptability, pro-activity; solution focused; decisiveness; accountability; team work; interpersonal skill; resilience  
• Able to be involved in capacity building of volunteers and community group
